The Delaware Healthy Children Program provides health insurance coverage to children in families with income too high to qualify for Medicaid. Children must be uninsured for at least 6 months preceding the application for CHIP. Monthly premiums, based on family income, are required. The monthly premiums cover all eligible children. Health care services are provided through two managed care organizations, Delaware Physicians Care, Inc. or United HealthCare Community Plan and provide comprehensive coverage including regular well-child check-ups, immunizations, vision care, dental care, prescription drug coverage, hospital care, physician services, x-ray, lab, behavioral health care, speech/hearing therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and hospice services, etc.
