The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) operates three landfills in the state of Delaware. There is a landfill located in each of the three counties. In addition DSWA operates Transfer Stations in Townsend, Milford and Harbeson along with five Collection Stations for collection of household garbage; one in Kent County and the other four in Sussex County. DSWA also operates serveral recycling programs including a Drop-off Recycling Program, Electronic Goods Recycling, Household Hazardous Waste Events and Used Oil Filter and Motor Oil Recycling. DSWA believes in educating both children and adults about waste management issues. We all make trash. Learning how to make less and safely manage the rest will help us become responsible citizens. DSWA provides educational presentations to assist in the its educational efforts. Children can come learn about various environmental issues, often with hands-on demonstrations.
