The Fire Prevention Commission is charged with the protection of life and property from fire for the people of Delaware. It oversees the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Delaware State Fire School and is empowered to promulgate fire codes and regulate Fire School training. It is also authorized to settle boundary disputes among fire companies.It is the responsibility of the Commission to investigate and resolve complaints both within the fire companies and the public. The Commission issues licenses and permits for the fire alarm vendors and the sprinkler contractors. Regarding the Emergency Medical Service, the Commission has authority for licensing and quality assurance of the Basic Life Support System.
