The Dystonia support group meets at the Paoli Memorial Hospital four times a year: 12:30pm-3:00pm on the 3rd Saturday of March, June, and September and 1:00pm-3:00pm on the 1st Saturday in December. Dystonia is a common neurological movement disorder causing muscles in the body to pull or spasm. It affects different parts of the body such as the neck and shoulders, vocal cords, eyelids, and limbs. Dystonia can be hereditary or result from a brain injury. Treatments for dystonia are available, although there is no known cure. The support group provides an opportunity for individuals and families affected by dystonia to share companionship, valuable lessons, and adaptive strategies. Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
