Must pay privately for two years before Medicaid is accepted. Somerford House, is owned by Five Star Quality. Somerford House is an assisted living facility located in Newark, DE. that accommodates 65 residents with assisted living and respite care. Services provided are three nutritious meals per day and healthy snacks, 24 hour security and state of the art emergency call system, weekly housekeeping, laundry and linen service, regular entertainment and activity programs, scheduled transportation for shopping and community activities away from Somerford, all utilities, cable TV, a private or companion suite with use of all common areas, personalized health care management by onsite registered nurses, personal assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, walking, and prescribed medications, and more. An in-house nursing staff consists of 2 RN’s, 2 LPN’s, caregivers, and a 24 hour nurse on-call on the weekends. Many activities are enjoyed by Somerford residents. Entertainers visit, trips are arranged, parties and special events are celebrated, crafts and other activities are available. Children from a local day care facility frequently visit residents at Somerford. Small pets often visit and some residents are allowed to keep small pets, if they can care for them independently.
